Items that are upgraded are components that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an additional benefit. They are generally more expensive and require that the item be of a certain rank.

Upgrades are rarely worth the cost for items that have high requirements. This is particularly true for items like the eth Titans, which don't have much variation.

Glyphs

Once you reach level 50, Blizzard’s action-RPG changes from its simplified campaign to the final game. At level 50, Diablo 4's action-RPG moves from its simple campaign to the final.

Glyphs play a crucial role in this progression. Increasing a Glyph's upgrade level increases its stat attributes and the radius of its effect on the Paragon Board. There are a variety of ways to acquire these upgrades, but the majority of players will find themselves relying on the primary method: raiding Faction Crypts.

Glyphs allows you to add symbols to your text. You can choose from the menu on the left of the screen. It displays glyphs initially in the font in which the cursor is placed, but you can view another font or type style, and reduce the number of glyphs to a smaller subset by selecting one of the options below Entire Font (for instance Punctuation shows only punctuation symbols). You can check the CID/GID number and Unicode value of any glyph by moving the cursor.

Once you've inserted a few glyphs and then the Glyphs panel will keep track of the last 35 glyphs you used and make them available under Recently Used on the first row of the panel (you must expand the panel in order to see all 35). You can also clear this list by right-clicking, or Control-clicking, a glyph in the list and choosing Remove From Recent Glyphs.

The Glyphs Panel also lets users to create a customized set of glyphs, which can be useful if you often need to type certain text types. This will prevent you from having to manually insert each glyph when you need it.

A custom glyph set can contain a maximum of 31 glyphs, including the base name as well as its suffix. The base name must include uppercase English alphabetic letters (A-Z) and lowercase English alphabetic letters (a-z), European numbers (0-9) and underscore (_) and various other glyphs. The glyphs that make up the suffix may include ligatures or contextual alternatives, which are special variants that combine two or more characters into one visually unifying symbol.

Reroll Tokens

Upgrades are the primary mechanic that offers bonuses on items, including additional stats. Upgrades are available in three different types: rerolling and recycling and leveling up. Each type comes with a distinct set of extra bonuses to an item.

Reroll Tokens can be used to alter the item's base stats and upgrade numbers. They can also be used to reroll substats of rings. This is useful when an item's fully upgraded (or "potential") power is lower than the player's expectations, or if the item's substats currently aren't optimal.

Rerolling an item costs 1 token. It will reset the upgrades, but will keep the set, rarity and level unaffected. When an item is upgraded, it increases its tier and with each tier, the primary stat is boosted by +3, while a random extra stat is added to it. The rank of an item rises by 1 when you level up an item to the highest achievable level.

The Blueprint Desk is a tool that lets players purchase new Appliances, Ingredients and decorations for their restaurants. Blueprints are available at the beginning of each Preparation Phase and appear as envelopes which can be opened by pressing the Grab. Each blueprint has its own icon, and every category of upgradeable items has a different icon:

Some recipes require certain Appliances or Ingredients which can be purchased by selecting a Franchise Card from the Blueprint Desk. Some Appliances and Inputs are staples, which means that they will not be available in the Shop or on rerolls while others have a higher chance of appearing when a specific franchise card is chosen at the Blueprint Desk. The Staple Pool is where all items will remain for the duration of the game. When purchased from the Blueprint Desk, non-staple equipment is also transferred to the Seed Pool.

Recycled Items

The magic happens with the third "R," recycling. When you recycle a product that is made from recycled materials, you are not only helping the environment but also giving the item a new life. This is because most items that are recycled are returned to their manufacturer of the original to be remanufactured into another product. This is what we call "closing the recycling loop."

If someone places something in their curbside recycling bin it is taken to a Materials Recovery Facility where it is separated and sorting. Then, it gets sold on to manufacturers who will then re-make the product. Remade products include:

This reduces the need to plant, harvest or extract raw materials from the Earth to create something new. This helps reduce the harm done to the environment; less trees are chopped down, rivers are diverted, and wild animals are displaced. It also reduces the amount of pollution caused by the dumping of raw materials into our water, soil and the air.

Purchasing recycled products helps keep local businesses and jobs thriving particularly for those who specialize in recycling materials. This is because the demand for such products helps encourage businesses to join in this environmentally healthy initiative.

Another reason to buy recycled items is that they require less energy to create new products from recycled materials than it does to create them from raw materials. This is because the manufacturing process of creating a brand new aluminum can takes 95 percent more energy than production of an identical aluminum can made from recycled material. This is why every bit counts.

Leveling

Most units are able to upgrade their level, which gives them additional XP every time they attack or get attacked. This XP can be used to increase the primary stat of the unit or unlock other upgrades on the unit's development tree. Weapons are a great example of this, since they can be upgraded by increasing their damage and range.

Most leveling systems have an arbitrary amount of levels to be reached, but this can vary from game-to-game. Leveling is done by spending either materials or coins.  item upgrades  employ both, but some only employ one.

In many games, leveling can be problematic because it makes certain units too powerful while other units are unable compete. Limiting the amount of leveling players are allowed to do will force them into deciding what they would like to upgrade, and why.
